Here is another from my growing collection of prints of the islands  This is Vulcano from the year 1800.  This is an engraving.  The top is the island with a lateen sailed boat in the foreground.  The lower is a view of the Grande Cratere with inhabitants viewing the nearly constant vaporing from it.  It is not quite so active today.  In the background are Lipari and Salina.  This is just a few years before Napoleon's threat to southern Italy brought the English fleet to Messina and the Malvasia became an important product to sell to them.
